7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. John 16:7 (NIV)
In this verse, Jesus is explaining what will happen after He dies on the cross. He states that He is going to send the Advocate. He is talking about the Holy Spirit. Jesus had to go so that the Holy Spirit could be with us and in us. Also, Jesus stated that He (Jesus) would send Him (Holy Spirit). The use of “Him” means it’s not an impersonal force. It is more related to a person. When we accept Jesus into our lives, we receive the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Thank you God for sending the Holy Spirit to reside in us. Thank you for sacrificing Jesus for us to be closer to you. Guide me in my decisions, and help me to be obedient to the Holy Spirit. Amen.
