19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.2 Peter 1:19-21 (NIV)

What is a prophetic message? What is a prophet? A prophetic message means it is a message directly sent from God. A prophet is the person used to deliver that message. A lot of prophecies were telling the future, because only God knows the future. In this verse it states that the prophetic messages are completely reliable and something to pay attention to because it comes directly from God. Here we see God using humans to spread His words. These thoughts didn’t come from a prophet’s own mind, it came from God. Let’s look at the Bible itself, which has prophets as authors like Isaiah for instance. When we look at the storyline which has authors from different nations, different kingdoms, and different walks of life, it all forms into a common storyline. It is all cohesive.

Lord thank you for using others to show your love for me. Thank you for making a way for your words to be read in a way I can understand. Please help me develop wisdom and help me to be able to defend your words when needed. Also, give me ways to share your word in a way that helps others to follow you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
