Word of God

13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.
I Thessalonians 2:13 (NIV)

Like Pastor Jeff pointed out, the story of the Bible from an archaeological perspective, proves to be highly accurate. When we look at the Bible, we are not looking at the words of men. Again, humans were just vessels for God’s Word, so that He could put it in a language and way we could relate to. It is the work of God. A lot of people state that they believe in God, but not the Bible. Pastor Jeff gave some really good facts about the accuracy of the Bible. He stated that historians and archaeologists look at how many copies were made and how close in time they were to the original writing for accuracy purposes. Through this process, we see that the New Testament is highly accurate especially compared to the manuscripts from Homer or Caesar. The New Testament has 24,000 manuscripts, and the time span between the original and the earliest known fragment is 8-30 years, which makes it highly accurate. It is not human words, it is God’s words, but even from a historical standpoint it proves to be accurate. For more information on the topic, check out the message here.
