31Israel served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him and who had experienced everything the Lord had done for Israel. Joshua 24:31 (NIV)
Joshua’s great faith and courage inspired holiness among people. Joshua is now an old man, he summons Israel to remind them of all God’s blessings and the curses. Joshua spurs them on with his words in verse 8.
8 But you are to hold fast to the Lord your God, as you have until now! Joshua 23:8 (NIV)
Joshua got it right. He was prepared for his leadership role under the influence of Moses. When it was Joshua’s time to lead, he followed God. Joshua often reminded the Israelites to be strong and courageous. Even near death, Joshua’s message is clear “hold fast to the Lord”.
Joshua 23 is full of wisdom and leadership that will be Joshua’s legacy long after his life is over. Israel’s response to Joshua was love for him and a desire to live in the way of the Lord.

Dear God,
I want to leave a legacy of love and service to You for Your glory. I want the ones I love to know and love You. I want to point people to Jesus, to call on His name and be saved. Please help me to follow You closely. Please help me to be strong and courageous in my faith walk. Equip me with great faith like Joshua to inspire holiness in my family and community.
