The Servant Leader

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give His life as a ransom for many.  Matthew 20:28 NLT

A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.   1 Corinthians 12:7 NLT

Servant Leader:  Seems contradictory, doesn’t it?  Both are calls on our lives given by God.  Jesus is the head of the Church yet He Himself said He came to serve.

Leaders are equipped with gifts and talents given by God that qualify them to lead and influence others.

Our roles in the Church and in the world are assignments from God.  We do not naturally possess what it takes to do the work God has called us to do.  The Holy Spirit distributes the traits required to do the work.  Finally, the work or roles we are given are for the glory of God alone.  God receives the blessing and the credit for how we serve Him by serving others.

REFLECT:
What is your attitude toward serving others?
How do you reflect God to others in the work you do?
Who needs to see God through the way you serve or lead them?
Why is it important to realize our roles in life are really gifts from the Holy Spirit?
When was the last time you thanked God for the work you do?
