Sorry

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. Psalm 51:17 (NIV)

Pastor Chris linked this verse to the saying “I am sorry.” He pointed out in this verse that contrite means “I am sorry at the core of my being.” When you do wrong against people or against God, your heart should be broken. This is what sorry truly means. If you are saying sorry to people and not really feeling sorry, then your apologies don’t mean much. When you say sorry it means that you understand that what you did was wrong and you will not do it any longer. When we go to others and ask for forgiveness, it should be with the same mindset and heart as we do when we ask God for forgiveness.

Action Steps:
Is there someone you need to say sorry to? This week try to think of the people who you need to apologize to. Make sure when you apologize to them it is with an open and contrite heart.
