New Commandment

A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”  John 13:34-35 (NIV)

As God’s ambassadors in the earth, we are called to be different.  Jesus tells us not to judge others unfairly (Matthew 7:1).  Sometimes we forget that we have all sinned (Romans 3:23).  Since we are all sinners saved by grace (Ephesians 2:8-9), we can remind ourselves that we are all guilty of something.  Even while we were still sinners, Jesus died to save us (Romans 5:8).  By keeping this in mind, we can love others and set ourselves apart from the world around us.  Our love for others will reflect God’s for them.  We can spend our lives living the commandment to love others.

Prayer:
God, thank you for reminding me that I am a sinner saved by your grace.  There are things in my life that deserve your punishment.  Thank you for sending Jesus to save me.  Help me to reflect your love to others.  In Jesus name.  Amen.
