How to Pray

9This, then, is how you should pray… Matthew 6:9a (NIV)

9 ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name Matthew 6:9b (NIV)

After stating what not to do, Jesus goes into what we should do as it relates to prayer. He wants to make sure that you have your heart aligned with God’s heart before the prayer. Then He goes into what to start prayer with. We talked last week about starting it with addressing God as Father. He is our heavenly Father, and we are addressing our relationship with Him. Next is “hallowed be your name,” which means great is your name. There is nobody on Earth that can do what God can do. He is set apart and does great things for us. Before we get to our needs and wants, we need to address exactly who we are talking to and how great He is.
