He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20 (ESV)
Mustard seeds are very small. But once planted and with time, they can grow into the size of a tree. Jesus was reminding His listeners that even when faith starts small, it can grow and become powerful. They only had to start with a little and it could grow to a place where they could move mountains.
As we start to step out in faith, it begins to grow. We can start by believing God for small things. As we see them happen, we will continue to grow in our faith and be able to believe Him for larger things. It’s time to plant your faith the size of a grain of a mustard seed and let it grow to a size that can move mountains.
Prayer:
God, thank you for using things we can relate to in order to help us understand your Word. I want to grow my faith to a place where it can move mountains. I will start believing you for the small things so I can eventually believe you for the big ones. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
