Battlefield

YOU ARE ON A BATTLEFIELD!

10 …I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. John 10:10b (NIV)

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy… John 10:10a (NIV)

11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:11-12 (NIV)

We live in a battlefield all the time.
John 10:10 Most Christians know this verse well-focusing on the last part regarding life to the full as a promise of Jesus. But 10a reminds us there is a thief.  Satan is the thief. Satan’s goal is to kill and destroy every good thing in your life.  He hates God and you are made in image of God.

Satan often disguised as angel of light according to the Bible. He masquerades as beautiful and pleasing.  Satan offers you delightful things that bring happiness yet God’s goal for your life is far more than temporary happiness.

Satan causes us to love stuff and we leverage everything to have more.  All of this is designed to ruin our lives. Getting us addicted to the things of this world until it costs us everything.

We are reminded we do not struggle against people-not the boss, not your spouse, the neighbor, your parents, or kids.  It’s against Satan.  When we wage war against people, we are not fighting Satan with the tools Jesus gives us. Yesterday’s devotional challenged you to check out Ephesians 6 and the Armor of God. It’s God’s weapons we need to fight in the spiritual battle.

Let’s Pray:
Dear God,
Thank You for the weapons formed against Satan that will help us have victory. You have won the battle on the cross and will win the final victory still to come. Help me to recognize I am always in a battle, but You are on my side and You will help me fight to win. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
