10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
This is a great verse that highlights God’s intentionality as it relates specifically to you. The Bible tells us that we are God’s “handiwork.” That literally means you were handcrafted by God. You are not some cosmic mistake. You were created on purpose, at this specific time, to fulfill a specific purpose. I imagine a carpenter sitting on a bench with a piece of wood. The carpenter begins to carve and sand the wood into the desired shape. That’s similar to what God has done with us. He specifically shaped you, making you unique compared to everyone else on earth!
The verse goes on to tell us that we were created in Christ Jesus to do good works. Do you wake up each morning focused on doing good works in your day, or are you only focused on your busy schedule? This week, make a decision to focus on doing good each day. Your small act of obedience to God’s Word will make a major impact in someone’s life. Can you imagine how the world would be if everyone focused on this verse?
