Nothing Gained

I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor. Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.  Ecclesiastes 2:10-11 (NIV)

The world we live in is temporary.  We were created for eternity.  We can spend our lives getting the things we want and desire.  We can spend our time building up our storehouses and enjoying the pleasures of life.  But in the light of eternity, they will all fade away.  Nothing is gained in this life when we focus on our desires instead of God’s plan for our lives.

Prayer:
God, thank you that you created me for eternity.  Help me to remember to not chase after the wind of things but focus on your plan for my life.  In Jesus name.  Amen.
