Sin

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. Galatians 5:16-17 (NIV)

We have the power over sin (through Christ Jesus) and we have the Holy Spirit helping us daily. We all have sin in our lives. We all do things that we regret. The Holy Spirit is in us and when we choose to walk by the Spirit, we won’t yield to our sinful desires. In this verse, we see how sin and the Holy Spirit are enemies. Your flesh (the part of you that only wants to please or gratify itself) does horrible things, but the Spirit helps us go the right way. We should ask the Holy Spirit to refill us daily, and think of the Holy Spirit within when we make decisions.

Questions:

  1. How can I apply this to my life today?
  2. What response does God want from me?
