God Always Knew

No, what you see was predicted long ago by the prophet Joel: 17 ‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Acts 2:16-17 (NLT)

Peter explains what happened in the room when the violent wind blew and the tongues of fire appeared above the Believers.  Peter took the moment to remind these religious people of what was written in the Old Testament.  They should have understood and expected God to do something spectacular.

God knew this great day would come thousands of years ago.  God knew we would need help and He made this promise for all Believers of all time.

God provides the power and strength we need to live for Him by sending the Holy Spirit.  Once filled with the Holy Spirit, Believers should expect to be changed.  In verse 17 it says sons and daughters will prophesy (know and tell) things of God.  The Holy Spirit gives wisdom and courage to speak truths of God.

Even today, I get little nudges from God through the Holy Spirit that lives within me.  I bet you do too.  That still small voice that points you in the direction you should go; the little cautions in your spirit when you should proceed carefully in a relationship or decision.  These are some ways the Holy Spirit is with you and helps you just as God intended and promised.

Reflect:
How comforting is it to know that God thought of you and sent you a Helper?
When have you expected God to do something spectacular?
Where have you experienced change as you are growing in faith?
What is your response to the little nudges or still small voice speaking to you?
