14 Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. 15 Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying. Hebrews 2:14-15 (NLT)
Believers do not have to fear death. Knowing Jesus as your Savior takes the fear out of the end of life on earth, because it is just the beginning of life in heaven.
None of that would be the case if Jesus had not become human, taking on flesh and blood. Jesus, as God, is perfect, without beginning or end; He is eternal. But the price of sin required a perfect sacrifice. Jesus agreed with the Father and became the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
The gift of eternal life is not for life after earth – eternal life starts now! Jesus defeated the devil and He broke sin’s power over Believers! Satan holds the keys to death – and quite frankly, he would love no one to be saved but have everyone subjected to his suffering. John 10:10 tells us The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
How do you feel about dying? Are you in bondage to fear? Do you hold to this life stronger than embracing eternal life with Jesus? Please pray and ask Jesus to help you live the life He came to give you – an eternal life that starts now is lived to the full!
Dear Jesus,
Thank You for putting on flesh for one reason only – to live on earth and die. You are the Lamb of God, the perfect sinless sacrifice for sin. You defeated the father of sin, the power of sin, and paid the penalty for sin. Help me to live in freedom, no longer the slave to the fear of dying. In Your powerful name I pray, Amen.
