Bad = Good

29 The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” 32 And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household. Acts 16:29-32 (NLT)

What an incredible opportunity would have been missed if only things went according to the plan of Paul.  Instead, people then and now are witnessing the miracle hand of God.  The jailer and prisoners were saved that day and still many are called to faith through God’s divine care.  This devastating launch into Paul’s work for God brought glory to God and good to those who believed.

How much more does God prove His love for us than we can imagine or deserve?  We cannot be good enough.  There is no “earning” heaven by good works.  It is only by the grace of God through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  That was Paul’s mission to share, and it is still the only way to the Father and eternal security.

Jesus suffered death on a cross and paid the price of sin for those who believe.  Paul suffered many times throughout his ministry in order that many would call on Jesus and be saved.  The bad we experience and the way we endure can be a good witness to those close to us.

What about you:
Who is watching your life?
What are others witnessing about your trust in God
When things seem hopeless for those around, do you reassure that God is here?
Where have you been ‘imprisoned’ by hurts, hang-ups, or habits and God freed you?
How do you respond when God shakes things up in your plans?
Why does your witness to others matter?
