21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” John 20:21 (NIV)
Jesus was sent to be with sinners. Now we are sent.
Everywhere we go we are light in the darkness. Jesus comes to us and illumines our heart, mind, and character. We are to shine in all the places we go. Just think, “This person in front of me does not know Jesus, yet here I am with them. How can I shine in ways that reflect Christ in me?” Our encounters are no mistake, God sends us to be exactly where we are.
15 For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing,2 Corinthians 2:15 (ESV)
Believers are to be an aroma of beauty that draws people. Most Christians are not drawing
people because we are known for hypocrisy and judgment. We have to be agents of change and become the beauty God intended us to be. When we don’t swear, avoid drunkenness, love our spouses and children well, our lifestyles shine our light to the world. People notice how we are different.
God will use you. His Holy Spirit will help you lead someone to Christ in the places you go-work, gym, running errands. God sends you to those in your sphere of influence.
Let’s Pray:
Dear God, You change people’s hearts to be more like Yours. Change mine please. Please help me to see those around me and to live in ways they find curious and appealing. I am sent by Jesus to people around me. I have the light of Jesus in me, please help me to shine. Help me to draw people to You through Jesus Your Son. Please lead me by Your Holy Spirit with eyes and words to love others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
