WHAT IS THE 90 DAY TITHE CHALLENGE?
The challenge is simply this: We are inviting you to step out in faith and tithe on your income for 90 days. And at the end of those 90 days, if for any reason, you change your mind we will refund the whole amount to you gave with no questions asked. It’s that simple. You don’t even have to let us know why. All you have to do is email us and we will refund your money quietly and quickly. (That is, of course, assuming we have a way to track your total giving either electronically or with a paper trail.)
WHY EVEN PRESENT A CHALLENGE ON GIVING AT ALL?
Because it’s a command from God. Generosity is just as an important part of our spiritual lives as anything else. It’s just as important as teaching on marriage, prayer, forgiveness, or any other part of our lives God wants us to put Him first in.
WHY ARE WE DOING IT THIS WAY?
Well, for several good reasons:
- It takes 90 days to build a habit. We all know this. This challenge gives us the chance to build the right kind of discipline and choices with our money the way God instructs us to. After the 90 days are up the goal would be to continue on with the lifestyle and habit of giving back to God what He’s blessed us with.
- We recognize that for many people tithing is a scary thing. This gives us a financial risk-free window to experience God working in our lives as we learn to give with a joyful and giving heart and watch Him do incredible things in our lives. As we give with the right kind of heart God promises to show up. We are confident that whoever takes this step of faith for the first time will finally understand and experience God in a new and real way.
WHO IS THIS CHALLENGE FOR AND WHO IS IT NOT FOR?
It’s NOT for anyone who is currently tithing. If you are giving faithfully in this way then this challenge is not for you. It IS for anyone who isn’t currently tithing. In the Bible the word tithe means “ten percent”. God asks us to give him the first tithe of our provision and live on the rest.
Perhaps you are a person who gives, but you only give one percent or maybe two. Maybe you don’t even know what you give because it’s not intentional, and when you do give it’s from what is left over and from what feels “safe”. Would you please consider praying about increasing your giving to be intentional?
