12 The next day, the news that Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem swept through the city. A large crowd of Passover visitors 13 took palm branches and went down the road to meet him. They shouted, “Praise God! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hail to the King of Israel!” 14 John 12:12-14 (NLT)
There were a lot of people in Jerusalem at the time of Passover. There were many different reactions to the news that Jesus was coming. There are those who took palm branches to the road. Back then it was common to lay down palm branches when a king or victorious general would enter a city. There were people who were calling Jesus “King of Israel.” There were also people who were still unsure of Jesus. There were even people who disliked and mocked Jesus. All these types of people still exist today and the truth is, God loves them all. He died for every one of us. The unsure, the believers, and the unbelievers.
Write down what type of reaction you have to Jesus and why. Think about it this week while reading about the life of Jesus.
